Launched in 2010, Small Business Saturday听encourages shoppers to support local independent retail stores.听From food to records, here are six local businesses to patronize this Saturday 鈥 and throughout the holiday season.


The Farmer鈥檚 Hand: This locally sourced grocery store, which opened in September, has plenty of Michigan-made holiday goodies for all ages and is committed to providing fresh groceries to Detroit. The proprietors of this part grocery store/part caf茅 has recruited over 100 local partners, and they鈥檙e also committed to giving 70 percent of their profits back to their partners. On Small Business Saturday, they鈥檒l be selling Michigan Gift Boxes at special prices.
