One of the challenges of making zero-proof cocktails is that most of the nonalcoholic ingredients you have to work with are sweet. In this nonalcoholic riff on the whiskey sour, black tea takes the place of whiskey and provides a dry but flavorful base for the drink. Do make your own grenadine for this 鈥 it鈥檚 so much more delicious than the artificially flavored stuff!

How to Make the Black Tea Sour听

Ingredients

2 oz. cooled brewed black tea

戮 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice

陆 oz. grenadine*

录 oz. simple syrup**

*Grenadine

(yields 6 oz.)

陆 cup Pom Wonderful

陆 cup sugar

1 Tbsp. pomegranate molasses (optional)

Heat Pom with sugar in a saucepan just until sugar dissolves. Let cool and store in refrigerator.

**Simple Syrup (yields 6 oz.)

陆 cup sugar

陆 cup water

Heat sugar and water in a saucepan until sugar dissolves. Let cool and store in refrigerator.

Directions

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker with a generous amount of ice. Shake well and strain into coupe or martini glass. Enjoy!
