The Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) in Dearborn and Detroit鈥檚 Motown Museum, Allied Media Projects, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and Mosaic Youth Theatre are among the organizations that have received donations in MacKenzie Scott鈥檚 latest round of giving.
The philanthropist 鈥 who was married to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos from 1993-2019 and has pledged to give a majority of her wealth back to the society that helped generate it 鈥 announced today that she has donated $2.7 billion to 286 organizations across the country. Her goal, , is to support 鈥渉igh-impact organizations in categories and communities that have been historically underfunded and overlooked.鈥
While the amount that was donated to each organization was not disclosed, the Motown Museum鈥檚 CEO and Chairwoman Robin Terry shared that the institution received a $5 million grant from Scott. The money will go toward funding the museum鈥檚 operations and expansion.

This generous and meaningful $5 million gift significantly impacts our ongoing fundraising efforts and brings us closer to bringing the expanded Motown Museum to our Detroit community and visitors from around the world.鈥
During her last round of funding 鈥 in which she gave back $4.2 billion to 384 organizations 鈥 Scott donated to United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Easterseals Michigan, Invest Detroit, Forgotten Harvest, the YWCA of Metropolitan Detroit, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. .
