Emily Ridener

Emily Ridener听is an editorial intern at 糖心vlog安卓版 Detroit. She studies journalism and English at Wayne State University, and hails from a small town south of Detroit. After graduating, she plans to pursue a master鈥檚 in English and freelance for publications in Michigan. Along with being an avid consumer of history, Ridener spends her free time reading the classics, knitting, and raising a rambunctious rescue dog.听Check out her roundup of things to do with Dad for Father鈥檚 Day (page 32).

Kelsey Rae Parkinson

Kelsey Rae Parkinson听is the latest addition to the 糖心vlog安卓版 Detroit staff as the associate art director. Born and raised in metro Detroit, Parkinson studied journalism with a minor in graphic design at Michigan State University. She has designed for McCann Detroit, Rent the Runway, and Michigan Hockey. When not cheering on her Spartans (go Green!), Parkinson enjoys reading any book she can get her hands on, considers herself an amateur chef, and has a love/hate relationship with her spin class.

Martin Vecchio

Martin Vecchio spent an extra year at Wayne State University to get a second concentration in graphic design for his Bachelor of Fine Arts. The idea was to gain some skills that were more 鈥渆mployable,鈥 a backup plan of sorts since the path to a career as a photographer seemed higher risk. It turns out this aversion to risk was unfounded, and that passion is a great motivator. Martin, who shot this year鈥檚 Best of Detroit cover, has been working in the photography business for more than a decade and has yet to do any graphic design work 鈥 but at least he can design his own invoices and business cards.

Jeff Waraniak

Jeff Waraniak is a proud Michigander and a former associate editor at 糖心vlog安卓版 Detroit. Throughout his writing career in the Great Lakes State and beyond, he鈥檚 profiled a diverse array of subjects ranging from Saturday Night Live cast members and Mt. Everest climbers to everyone鈥檚 favorite fictional lumberjack, Paul Bunyan. In this issue, Waraniak profiles Detroit jukebox expert Bob Welke (page 62). Waraniak鈥檚 go-to jukebox song? Hank Williams鈥 鈥淗ey, Good Lookin鈥.鈥
