Emmy Nominees with Michigan Ties

Keep an eye on these five during tonight鈥檚 award show.

After being postponed for the writers鈥 and actors鈥 strikes in September, will broadcast a three-hour show at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15. Ahead of the show, which airs on FOX (next day on Hulu), we took a closer look at the talents representing the Mitten State.

Steven Yeun

American actor Yeun Sang-yeop, known professionally as Steven Yeun, rose to fame playing Glenn Rhee on popular horror series The Walking Dead. Yeun was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1983, and first immigrated to Canada before moving to Michigan with his family. He graduated from Troy High School in 2001 and Kalamazoo College, where he majored in Psychology, in 2005.

He is nominated for an Emmy in the 鈥淥utstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series or movie鈥 category for his work on Beef, a Netflix comedy-drama that tells the story of two strangers whose road rage incident sparks an intense feud.

He鈥檚 up against Taron Egerton (Black Bird), Kumail Nanjiani (Welcome To Chippendales), Evan Peters (Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Daniel Radcliffe (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story), and Michael Shannon (George & Tammy).

Evan Peters

This St. Louis native got his acting start in the 2004 drama Clipping Adam and played multiple roles in the anthology horror series American Horror Story.

He鈥檚 been nominated in the same category as Steven Yeun for his work playing serial killer Jeffery Dahmer in Dahmer 鈥斕齅onster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story, which has also been nominated for the Outstanding limited or anthology series.

In 2001, he moved to Grand Blanc with his family and attended Grand Blanc Community High School before moving to LA at age 15.

Paul Walter

Paul Walter is a born and raised Michigander with ties to both Grand Rapids and Saginaw. He had a few supporting roles on several movies including I, Tonya and Cruella before landing his breakout role in Richard Jewel.

He鈥檚 nominated in the 鈥淥utstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movies鈥 for his work in the miniseries Black Bird, playing convicted murderer and suspected serial killer Larry Hall.

Other nominees in this category include Murray Bartlett (Welcome to Chippendales), Richard Jenkins (Dahmer 鈥 Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Joseph Lee (Beef), Ray Liotta (Black Bird), Young Mazino (Beef), and Jesse Plemons (Love & Death).

Sam Richardson

In 2022, 糖心vlog安卓版 Detroit profiled this Detroit-born actor, comedian, writer, and producer. At the time, he was already well-known for his work on Detroiters and was set to appear in the much anticipatedHocus Pocus 2. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his work on Ted Lasso.

This year, he鈥檚 being recognized again for his work on Ted Lasso and has been nominated for an Emmy in the 鈥淥utstanding guest actor in a comedy series.鈥 Others in that category include Jon Bernthal (The Bear), Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building), Pedro Pascal (Saturday Night Live), and Oliver Platt (The Bear).

Tim Robinson

This Saturday Night Live alum gained recognition for his work on the comedy series Detroiters as well as the sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, the latter of which is a nominee in the 鈥淥utstanding actor in a short form comedy of drama series.鈥

Other contenders in this category include Kevin Hart (Die Hart 2: Die Harter) and Ben Schwartz (Die Hart 2: Die Harter).

Robinson was born in Detroit in 1981and was raised in both Clarkston and Waterford, graduating from Clarkston High School in 2000.
