Local shops Ferne Boutique and Mature Lifestyle Clothier are launching a pop-up apparel and styling experience on Oct. 1 at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. The 3,300-square-foot store will offer goods from each company.

Ferne Boutique, founded and owned by Laura Horwath, is a contemporary women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories shop with locations in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Bay City. Mature Lifestyle Clothier is a Detroit-based casual and formal menswear and accessories brand founded by brothers Darryl Jr. and DeKoven Humes.

The pop-up shop will feature fall and winter items — including cozy and stylish sweaters, jackets, and loungewear — from both Ferne and Mature. Shoppers can also look out for items from Sorel, a new brand offering from Ferne. And Mature will release its Detroit-designed Signature Mature Belt at the pop-up as well as other new products.

“The collaboration of two Black brothers and a white female business owner providing a unique shopping experience is what makes this all special — a style for every story,” the owners say in a statement to ����vlog��׿�� Detroit. “Over the past few years, we have seen a significant amount of division and negativity, but this opportunity is centered around authenticity, diversity, and positivity.”

Horwath and the Humes brothers met in 2017 while hosting their respective pop-up shops at Bedrock’s Downtown Detroit Market. The three stayed connected as they went on to open their own stores in Detroit’s New Center the following year, and in 2019 began talking about the idea of partnering on a pop-up experience. Two years later, they have brought their vision to life.

“This opportunity came to us at the right time, and we are so excited and grateful to be able to come together and offer this experience to our customers and community,” Horwath says.

The Ferne Boutique and Mature Lifestyle Clothier pop-up will be open through Dec. 31. Its hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Sunday.

All three shop owners are excited to continue serving their current customers while tapping into a new market in Novi. “Alone we can do so little [but] together we can do so much,” DeKoven says. “I can’t wait for our customers to see what we have to offer.”
