Since 2019, Milk & Froth has served up unique ice cream creations from its truck each summer in spots like Capitol Park and Campus Martius. Now, fans of the craft creamery can rejoice 鈥 the business is opening a brick-and-mortar space on July 5 in downtown Detroit.
鈥淲e are really excited to be opening our first scoop shop downtown,鈥 says Alexis Matteson, co-owner of Milk & Froth. 鈥淭he number one question our customers have been asking is how they can get our ice cream year-round, so we are very happy to finally meet that need with our new storefront.鈥
Located at 535 Griswold St., Milk & Froth will offer more than a dozen rotating ice cream flavors at its shop, including twists on classics 鈥 like milk chocolate and roasted strawberry 鈥 as well as more inventive options, such as honeycomb, butterscotch brownie, matcha pistachio, orange cream, and malt cherry chocolate. Both dairy and vegan ice cream will be available.
The ice cream is made from scratch in small batches without pre-manufactured mixes, chemical stabilizers, or artificial colors and flavors. According to a press release, Matteson and fellow co-owner Deion Cao consider their business to be part of the 鈥渢hird-wave of ice cream,鈥 a term they coined to describe the national trend of 鈥渜uality-conscious artisan ice cream.鈥
A single scoop is $5 and a double scoop is $8. For another dollar, guests can enjoy their ice cream in one of Milk & Froth鈥檚 signature black fresh waffle cones. Pints to-go are available for $9.
Milk & Froth will be open from noon to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday through Sunday.
